Summer Reading

Summer reading is over, and what fun it was!! 454 children, birth through grade 6, participated in the summer program and read in excess of 92,000 minutes. Beside maintaining and building reading skills, participants enjoyed a variety of activities during our 15 special programs, and ninety-five children received additional prizes during our drawings for free passes, toys, books, and gift cards.

We are extremely grateful for the organizations, businesses, and individuals who support children's summer reading every year! Our Friends of the Library, Tri Kappa, and individual donors made it possible for us to give away books upon program completion, as well as provide special summer reading programs and prizes. During this five week program, kids had an opportunity to earn breadsticks from Papa John's, ice cream from Culver's, and free kid's meals from Garfield's, Ponderosa, and Fazoli's. The Indiana State Fair, Indiana Beach, and Fever donated free passes for children and their families. Kids also had a great time at the Ronald McDonald program.
Thanks everyone for making the children's reading program a dynamic and enjoyable event each summer!
